If you make use of sample-based instrument sources within your typical music workflow, then EastWest will be a familiar brand. This is particularly true for media composers as their range of virtual instruments targeted directly at film, TV, video game, trailer or advertising applications are top-notch. Whether you realised it or not, you will undoubtedly have heard many of these sounds in countless film or TV scores….
The latest addition to their line-up is DrumX and, as the name suggests, it’s a drum-based instrument. Focussed on some of the most iconic electronic drum machines of all time – and featuring sounds and MIDI drum grooves created by Jimmy Jam (go check out his CV of credits!) – auditioning DrumX is like sonic time-travel as you are constantly thinking “that’s the drum sound from XYZ hit….”
Anyway, just when you thought you had all the electronic drum VSTi that you could possibly need, along comes another excellent option 🙂 Check out the full SOS review here to find out more….
