I’m absolutely a fan of the Neural DSP plugin range and that certainly included the original Darkglass Ultra plugin. As a means for dialling in almost any kind of bass tone you can imagine from a DI’ed electric bass, it has been pretty much unbeatable since it was released. Neural have now taken the plugin up a notch or three with the release of Darkglass Ultimate. This new version comes with improved algorithms under the hood but also now includes many of the features available in Neural’s popular guitar-focussed plugins including pre-effects, cab emulation, a dedicated EQ section and post-effects. It is, in essence, a full bas rig in software…. and it can sound fantastic….
