IK Multimedia ReSing

Vocal synthesis is a technology that has really come of age in the last couple of years thanks to products such as Dreamtonics’ SynthV. However, in parallel to that, ‘vocal changing synthesis’ has also become a thing. IK Mulktimedia’s ReSing is such a product and, rather neatly, IKM call ReSing ‘vocal resynthesis software’.

Given what ReSing does, I think this is an accurate distinction. While SynthV will create a sung vocal from your MIDI melody and lyrical input (via a vocal synthesis engine), ReSing will take an existing sung vocal (as an audio file) and transform it (via a resynthisis process) into a different voice. The end result is that the same vocal performance sounds like it has been sung by a completely different person. ReSing isn’t the only option for this kind of task (Sonarworks Voice AI does a similar thing for example) but it is certainly a very capable one.

Anyway, if you want to find out more, check out the full review in SOS…. it’s fascinating technology.
