I’m an avid NAMM watcher and love to see the new products announced or launched at the show every year. My absolute highlight (well, so far at least, the show is still in progress as I type this) of the 2025 edition was Dreamtonics providing a sneak-peak inside the upcoming release of v.2 of the flagship Synth V virtual vocalist instrument.
If you are not familiar with Synth V, then check out the SOS review I did of the the software back in the March 2023 issue. That software can create such realistic vocal performances is truly amazing. As a tool for music producers or songwriters who might need male/female vocals in various styles, Synth V is a remarkable product, allowing you to do proof of concept work on any song project as it develops. And, while you might then use the Synth V vocal tracks as a reference guide for an session singer or artist, in many contexts, Synth V’s output might actually well above the performance bar required to make it to the final mix.
Anyway, as a fan and user, I watched the Dreamtonics’ preview video for ‘coming soon….’ details on v.2 and it’s impressive stuff. You can check it out via their YouTube channel here. Fingers crossed the release date is not too far away…. 🙂
