This review was a lot of fun to work on. Experimenting with a signal chain for your vocals can sometimes be a task that takes some considerable thought….. and while Neutron can get very deep for those happy to go there, like all of iZotope’s flagship products, Neutron now provides an ‘Assistant’ route for the less experienced (or those just wanting an instant starting point). The Assistant simply auditions your vocal recording and then builds a suitable initial signal chain for you to work from. The suggestions might not always be what you had in mind, but it can be an educational first step and, sometimes, it will land on something very good that you might not have thought of yourself….
Assistant view then lets you tweak a few macro-level controls…. or you can switch to the more detail view and start adjusting parameters within each of Neutron’s processing modules…. the choice is yours….. Anyway, a deep plugin that lets you get to a polished vocal sound whatever your level of experience. If that sounds like it might appeal, then check out the full review here on the SOS website.
