I’ve been lucky enough to write for Sound On Sound for over 20 years and it means I’ve seen my fair share of impressive music and recording technology products. However, there have been a few occasions when something has just left me staring at my computer screen in disbelief; Synthesizer V undoubtedly gave me one of those moments.
Synthesized vocals have been a ‘thing’ for quite some time, with the Vocaloid software perhaps being the most well know example. However, until recently, there was no way that you could fool anyone that they were listening to a ‘human’ voice with such a software instrument. That’s now changed….. and Synth V is perfectly capable of doing just that once you have grasped the key elements of the feature set.
Are computer generated vocals a ‘good thing’? Well, that’s a somewhat different question and one that, at some stage, I’ll perhaps get into on the blog in a dedicated article. For now, put those thoughts aside and just find some examples of Synth V in action (search YouTube; there are some amazing cover versions of well know songs to be found)….. and get a sense of the technical aspects of what is being done here. It’s truly remarkable…..
And if you want to know how you get to grips with those technical aspects to create your own sung vocals with the Synth V engine, then read the full SOS rewiew here….
